New Children’s Hospital, Perth

The New Children’s Hospital in Perth is a brightly coloured building.  
A variety of colours and shapes to try and make the children feel more at ease during their illnesses

Observers are compelled to take a second glance at the children’s hospital in Perth, which is still under construction, due to the colourfulness of the exterior façade and the enormous variety in the changing façade cladding.

On the east and west side, the climate control of the double-skin façade has been solved by using vertically installed rotating and sliding louvre systems. A total of 480 groups made up of three perforated sheet louvres each (approx. 750 x 4300 mm) have been installed on 9 storeys. The sun position tracking system automatically adjusts itself to track the path of the sun. Due to the asymmetrical suspension, it is possible to clean the inner window façade from the maintenance walkway when the louvres are in the “Park Position”.

On the same project on other parts of the building, Sun Works has also installed vertical motor-driven glass louvers (approx. 600 x 3400 mm) and horizontal ventilation glass louvres.
